I have used wood pellets for many years now and started using Silva Bed in early 2024 after trying many other brands of both wood and straw pellets. Silva bed are much lighter in colour than other pellets so makes the bed look even more nice and clean . They are highly absorbent with no ammonia smell lingering on your clothes or footwear. They are very easy and quick to muck out and have the added bonus of reducing the amounts put on the muck heap. 1 pallet for 1 horse has lasted a year and I’ve just placed my second order. I highy recommend these.
I never really got on with wood pellets until silva crumb! After trying many other brands I found they went dirty and damp very quickly. Silva crumb stays lovely and dry whilst staying looking clean. They don’t get heavy with wet (and we have two messy horses) and are quick and easy to muck out. Also make beautiful fluffy beds that the horses have no issue sleeping on.
Since changing to Silva bed I can honestly say my beds have stayed cleaner, no smell, minimal waste and quick to muck out. Definitely cost effective.
Easy to order and the delivery comes when they say it will with good communication. The delivery drivers are always very polite and helpful too.
As a 5 event rider with a busy yard of often up to 20 horses, we require a bedding that is cost effective, time efficient and high quality. We choose Silva Crumb because it keeps our outgoings low and our standards high, with quality you can rely on pallet after pallet.
The pellets are made of kiln dried pine, so look lovely and appealing over the stable door, which is hugely important to me. The high absorbency rate and extraordinary ability to control ammonia means our stables are as clean as they can be. Being low dust also means horses are impacted less in their respiratory function whilst being stabled.
We found other competitors used 15kg bags, compared to Silva Bed who supply 18kg bags. It’s amazing how much difference that 3kg makes to usability! The beds are easy to muck out and take up minimal room on the muck heap, so we don’t have added costs there.
We wouldn’t use anything else for our beds here and have noticed a huge difference in terms of cost and quality since switching to Silva Bed!
I’ve had quite a few pallet loads of this bedding now and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so light in colour and I love the bigger bags. I’ve got 14 horses on them, some I mix with shavings and it works great both ways.
I won’t ever buy another brand again!!
